Brinar

BRINAR is a wear resistant, quenched and tempered steel from the Salzgitter Group. The high strength of this steel is achieved by heating the material up to 900°C, then cooling it down in a water quenching and tempering plant and, if necessary, subjecting it to a tempering heat treatment.

BRINAR® is produced in different grades:

  • BRINAR 400
    Is manufactured up to a thickness of 80 mm. The surface hardness at room temperature is between 360 and 440 Brinell (HBW). Cold forming by bending or rolling is generally possible if the manufacturer's specifications are obeyed. Hot forming is possible from 850 - 1000°C. However, tempering must be carried out afterwards. This steel grade can be thermally cut and welded using any common process. For thermal cutting and welding, the plate metal must be preheated starting at a thickness of 30mm.

  • BRINAR 450
    Is manufactured up to 80mm thickness. The surface hardness at room temperature ranges from 410 - 490 Brinell (HBW). Cold forming by bending or rolling is generally possible if the manufacturer's specifications are followed. It can be thermally cut and welded using any standard process. For thermal cutting and welding, the plate metal must be preheated above a thickness of 10 mm.

  • BRINAR 500
    Is produced up to a thickness of 60 mm. The surface hardness at room temperature is 480 Brinell (HBW). Cold forming by bending is basically possible if the manufacturer's specifications are observed. This steel can be thermally cut and welded using any common process. For thermal cutting and welding, the plate metal must be preheated from a thickness of 10 mm.
